A contemporary artisan coffee shop and restaurant situated next door to Shrewsbury Cathedral on the old Shrewsbury Town Walls.

Philpotts Shrewsbury

When the Philpotts chain was sold, the original owner retained the branch in Shrewsbury as an independent business


Housed within a chocolate box timber-framed building, in one of Shrewsbury’s most striking Medieval streets, sandwich specialist Philpotts has been making bespoke sandwiches for hungry Salopians since 1990.

Breakfast sandwiches or baps are made to order with high quality bacon, sausages and free-range eggs. Ingredients are sourced from local bakers and suppliers. Take-away or sit down at a table on the pavement café outside. Philpotts also offers a delivery service.

Sarnies serves up traditional artisan sandwiches and bakery items with much of its range hand-baked in the company’s little on-site bakery.

For takeaway breakfast choose sausage, bacon, or bacon and sausage wrap or baguette, made freshly to order. You can add a fried egg, mushrooms or melted cheese.

Vegetarian breakfast wraps or baguettes include a fried egg sandwich or a more filling offering of two fried eggs mushroom and tomato.

One of Shrewsbury’s best-known chefs is behind The Lunch Box, in the Market Hall, specialising in fusion flavours and local artisan ingredients.

Eat in or take out and choose from various toppings on toasted sourdough made by an artisan bakery, located just across the road.

Enjoy crushed avocado on a bed of tomato with toasted seeds and pomegranate; local smoked salmon, spinach and poached egg or local ham, tomato and poached egg. Most of Adrian’s ingredients are sourced from the market itself. All toasted options are available all day.

Tom's Table has an ever-changing bagel menu.

Tom’s Table

A salad and bagel bar in Shrewsbury’s popular Market Hall that serves Tom’s handmade breakfast bagels and his own-recipe granola.

His menu of breakfast bagels changes regularly. Favourites include avocado, cream cheese, lemon and dill; roasted Portobello mushroom with Dijon mustard and Dolcelatte cheese and cheese omelette and mushroom. Alternatively start the day with avocado on sourdough with lime, chilli and a drizzle of olive oil.

Tom’s granola is a combination of almonds, oats, hazelnuts, golden raisins, almonds, dried cranberries, maple syrup and desiccated coconut, served with yoghurt and Tom’s own compote of seasonal fresh fruit along with a dash of honey from his own bees.
