Comics Salopia is taking over the town to celebrate the medium of comic art in all it's varying forms. International guests are flying in to speak, draw and share their experience at an extensive range of fun, inclusive and inspiring events for all the family.

Visitors can also enjoy film screenings, Jedi fight training, face painting, a small press comics market in the square, an interactive Judge Dredd event, live music, boat trips, a Zombie Walk, a Cosplay competition and live art events all weekend plus lots lots more!

Belle Vue Arts Festival is celebrating its 16th birthdays with a fortnight of non-stop arts and entertainment events. Opening on June 1 with a family friendly “Let's Celebrate Art” day, there will be music, drop-in art workshops, lego, fossil hunting and pond dipping amongst many others.

There are community events and exhibitions running throughout the fortnight. The popular Open gardens are back, as are the Art and Scarecrow trail and the open studios.

The Quarry Park, June 2

Come and join a fantastic day of family fun, while at the same time learning about water safety awareness.

The festival will feature various races and demonstrations on the river. With canoeing, coracles, local independent craft stalls, children's fancy dress and other competitions, as well as live entertainment. Pirate fancy dress is encouraged, both on land and on the boats!

A free, fun-filled family day out – with all proceeds going to charity.

The day begins at 10am in the Quarry with food, trade and charity stalls; funfair, bouncy castles, slides and more. The Carnival parade is the highlight of the day with its colourful floats, lively procession, dance troupes, music and bands. The parade leaves the Quarry at 2pm, doing a loop through the town centre before heading back into the park.

With over 200 food, drink and craft exhibitors as well as cookery demonstrations, chef school and BBQ stage it's no wonder the Food Festival is the highlight of the Shrewsbury foodie scene.

With jam-packed entertainment and music line up there is something for everybody to enjoy. And for those who may be worried about missing the big game – have no fear! There will be a HUGE screen showing the World Cup.
