Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery, January 5

Shrewsbury Museum's monthly event returns this New Year. Those who present a sketchbook at the museum front desk on the first Sunday of the month will receive a reduced entry price*.

Occasionally there'll be loose optional themes to work with, and anyone who wishes to add to the communal sketchbooks dotted throughout the galleries are very welcome.

Discover the unseen history of our town in the final weeks of Shrewsbury Museum and Art Gallery's Lost Shrewsbury.

Take a fascinating trip through Shrewsbury’s rich history and heritage with images never seen before.

Paintings of the Shrewsbury landscape from SM&AG’s own collection will also feature in the exhibition. Pieces of art included will be a fine painting of the Old Welsh Bridge by Paul Sandby and a view of the English Bridge by C. W. Radclyffe.

Shrewsbury has a number of independent cinemas, including Theatre SevernOld Market Hall and The Hive, so you'll never be short of amazing new movie releases.

January sees a number of big films come to town, including Frozen 2Cats and WWII war epic 1917.

The Hive will be screening a number of international films, including award-winning Ukrainian film Donbass.

January also sees the beginning of The Royal Opera House's live cinema season, you can watch live screenings of The Sleeping Beauty at The Old Market Hall on January 16, and La Boheme at Theatre Severn on January 29.
